Your exposition is both delightful and interesting.
Our Fortier Collection numbers some 1600 cards. In particular we collect the early (pre-1906) series. Our research has thrown up some very interesting examples and intriguing questions concerning this exceptional photographer.
We cordially invite browsers and anyone interested in West African history to view our website. http://www.africard.co.uk/
You will notice on your fifth card from the top (FPh-92) the number EF38 in white appears at bottom left - please see our website (Appendices - EF Discussion) for other special Fortier cards. The ‘lady of the pipe’ also carries an EF number, but it is enigmatic and obscure! It is suspected that these EF numbered cards may have been favorite snapshots of Fortier. Indeed he tried, sometimes unsuccessfully, to erase them, leading us to question whether the originals of these were actually his own work (or did he change his mind?). Also see FPh-239 EF19 - 7th from top - the EF number is very obscure.
Please email if you are interested in making contact - we have many interesting additions to the above.
Hoping that others share our interest.
Kind regards.
Lewis and Lucia Brown
