Although eyes are part of our sensory equipment, perception is a process that occurs in the complex interactions between eye and brain. Perception is not static–it changes in the individual over time, and within society. People are born with sensory tools such as sight, taste, hearing, smell and touch. other. Human perceptions change in relation to our visual and cultural environments. People once lived in small communities for their entire lives. The world around them was familiar, and remained relatively stable, for long periods of time. Today, people are bombarded daily with hundreds or thousands of changing visual images.
